What about a "clam shell" style pantry hatch

What if, for the pantry opening, a "clam shell" style hatch set up? In other words, a lower hatch door, and an upper hatch door. The hatch doors would seperate about mid height of the trailer, allowing the lower to swing down, and the upper to travel up. It would require an extra latch system to hold the lower in place while in transit, but might allow for more use of pantry area. Thank you for your time

 :applause: It works! The one I remember best is Gern B's.

If you look at the Galley Gallery you will see lots of ideas.

 Wish I had done mine that way.

Checkout my album. I have what you describe. My hatch used to be full size , but I did a rebuild & found that this works very well. The bottom hatch has a strap on each side so it does not fall & hit my bumper. But like you said it does take 2 latch systems. I did them the same way . Good luck!

Thanks Dewi!

Take your time, explore as many options as you can, and make your best choice.

No matter what you choose, as soon as you're finished, something different, better, more exciting, etc, will come along and make you wonder if you made the right decision... but fear not!
You made your choice based on what worked the best for you at the time.

All the other cool ideas you didn't have room for, can be used on your next trailer... ;)

The "clam shell" pantry hatch system, works like a charm. Thank you for your help in thinking this through, Eric Image The lower hatch works well as a mini bar when in the closed position also
