How did you guys draw the layout for your profiles? They all seem so flawless.

Big hunk of cardboard and the grid method. Cut that out and traced it to a sheet of luan for a template before I ever made a mark of any kind on the good ply.

I used a piece of masonite with a 3" grid in two directions I cut a piece of thin wood to flex from one point to another. I'd clamp the ends to the masonite and draw the curve. cut it out and use the template also you can use the template for aligning the framing if thats how your building your tear. Steve Fredricks has a great manual that I used, it was well worth the investment. Walt

Danny, that is pretty cool to be able to buy a tracable profile,however you have to be willing to settle on those profiles. I ended up doing a variation on the camper for two profile from the design library. it was a bit of work but worth it. Walt

I used 1/4" mdf, gridded it out in 3" squares using a drywall square, and used a piece of trim to help layout and smooth out the curves. Those pieces of wood that the trim rests against to form the curve are held in place with double-stick carpet tape.

I created my profile on my computer, then printed it out on my large format printer onto a HUGE piece of paper, which I then transferred to my ply.

We've got several teardroppers up you way and we are having a TN Volun'tear gathering at Warriors Path State Park April 24-26. You should drop by and get some ideas for your tear and share in the fellowship of other teardroppers. Maybe you can make our potluck on Saturday evening.... we'll be glad to feed you!

You made a grid?????????? :lol:

Lets see---Mike S. worked the radius for me and I marked it from the corners.

It worked great. Smoothed out any crooked lines with a belt sander. :thumbsup:
