Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hi,

I'm getting towards the end of my build and have decided to go with an epoxy/spar varnish combo for surfacing. My question is, can I do a couple of coats with 205 hardener then finish with one of 207 hardener? Is there any advantage/disadvantage to this - besides cost?

My sides will be stained wood, the top painted.

DK, I will let those familiar with West Systems answer your question but will warn that many stains and epoxies do not play well with each other...water based stains or dyes(aniline) usually work the best with each other.....

The 207 is for clear applications when you want to show off the wood. Since you are going to top coat it with paint, you don't need to use the 207, you can top coat the 205. The link below has the product use chart and other good info. Doug

Hi madjack, I hale from Minnesota these days. My build is a modification of the "reverse-teardrop"... lower on the front, taller on the back - with a door on the back. I'd hesitate to call it a teardrop as it's more of a tiny trailer.

Most epoxy manufacturers test their epoxy with stain for adhesion. You might want to check West's test results for your particular product. West System over Stain

Thanks for the link - I had been planning on the Gel stain, but it's great to have some backup proof that it might work.
