Well... Here we go!

I've been (and still am) planning & scheming and now we start building. I am building with a friend who is providing the trailer frame. This weekend we are getting together to lay it out so he can start welding. I put together a rough build estimate and with a total price tag of about $2000.00 I'm wondering how long until my wife kills me but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Any tips and/or advice anyone could give would be greatly appriciated.

...wish me luck!!!

Tell the wife you are going to build the 1st trailer to sell and will triple your money. Then build something that makes her so proud of you she won't let you sell it. 8)

I wanted to sell #1 to build #2, she wouldn't let me sell it. I built #2 to sell, and now she won't let go of that one either. What's a fellow to do?

I'd go for that! Good luck with your build! :)

 Congratulations on your start!

Although I'm not that far along in my build, there are two bits of advice that I would offer:

1. Embrace the concept of teardrop time - especially if you work in build time around a family and job.

2. As you have found out, this forum is a tremendous resource. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

Oh, and post pictures of your build progress!

Tom

Baseball bat while you're sleeping? :o

Seriously, the best advice is to bring her into the project. I have found that I am able to do some rather crazy things if I bring my wife in early and am upfront with everything. If not there is always advice number one.

Also, figure a little wiggle room into your estimate. Things always seem to cost more as you go along
