If your luck with air-cooled VWs is like mine, it would be "tears" :crying2: to pull a tear

OK, there are a couple of ways to do it, but the VW has a uni-body. You might get more flexibility from something with a frame. Then you could go crazy and not worry too much about the structure.

Otherwise, if you use a VW bus pan, you could go with a 68 or newer (rounded front window) -- you don't want to kill a classic and they are getting REALLY expensive anyway. Keep the front including the doors and door jams -- that will save you a lot of work. Then make the 'tear-like' part of it start to taper into the tear aft of where the front bench stops. The tricky part is that the roof is rounded so some place you have to either transition to the flat [up front?], or carry the curved roof-line all the way down (maybe not too easy) . Big project! :?

If you want to buy a VW van Go Westy restores them and usually has a good selection of them for sale. Walking through their lot seeing dozens and dozens of VW vans is a very lusty experience.
