That would be a good idea only I already have the hurricane hinge. With money being tight I'm trying to make this work. If push comes to shove, I may have to go this route. Thank you for showing me.
I lost all my pictures when my home computer crashed.
Now that I have my new computer set up I'm hoping to take some more as soon as this blasted rain stops. They're predicting rain for the next week and a half.
I'm thinking that I can extend the roof line down on the back. Make it long enough to mount the top part of the hinge on. It will make the hinge vertical as well. I don't know if this will create leak problems or not. I'm thinking that I can make the horizontal part of the roof overlap the short vertical extension to the roof. This should create a lip to help stop water as well. When I look at the "Hall of Fame" pictures, the ones that are designed similar to mine have this extension for the roof. I know all this sounds so confusing. I'm doing it and I'm confused. Basically, I will take a 1X2 piece of oak and extend the roof line down the back. I will then attach the top part of the hinge to the oak and the bottom part to the hatch door. I just need to seal it good. I think it will work and should simplify the hatch and the attachment point. Did I say "SiMpLiFy"!!!
I will be sure and post some pictures so you can see what I'm doing.
Sorry for being so long winded. Sometimes it helps to put things in writing so you can read it back and see if it sounds logical or makes some type of sense. Be sure and continue to reply with any other ideas you may have.
