Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Anybody know where I can find fenders that would work on a Grumman 2 type build? I would need fenders that are about half the width of regular fenders (about 4 to 5 inches), and work with 15" wheels.

I know I could probably get regular size and cut them in half, but with my luck that would probably turn out to be a disaster. (I don't need four 15" ashtrays. I don't even smoke?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the same dilemma. I am considering building some up out of foam insulation, with fiberglass coating, the painting. Steve Frederick has done this , with plywood backer for attaching.

...whatever you use, it will probably require some fabrication on your part...one option to consider, is the fender flair/extensions used on Jeeps and other vehicles which run wider tires.......

have you looked at Morris Minor Traveller rear wings? very much like the traditional teardrop shape but are narrower as the wheel sits 1/2 inboard.
I`m pretty sure you will be able to get some over there.

Dan- you might want to check with Steve, I know he was having some trouble with the end product bubbling up underneath the paint. Don't know if he fixed the problem or not.

Wow! You knocked those out fast! I am still debating what I want to do for my build.

I was thinking about maybe buying a fender from tractor supply and having it cut in half.

The only problem with that is unless you get the right one the lip on the back side will be almost a 90 and the front side is radiused.
They do make some that are radiused front and back but you have to look for them. You might want to check with Viking on 68, Bill can get just about anything. If you explain what you are looking for he made be able to order you pre-made ones.

the problem with buying them and modifying is that you have the cost of pre-made and nearly the work of scratch building them....hmmm


Pink foam and glass would probably not take any if much longer and you'd get the shape you wanted. You still have the labor, but should save on the cost.

Those are the ones I was talking about. You'll have to actually see them to know. If I'd have seen this earlier I'd have stopped on my way by and checked.

How wide of fender do you actually need?? If I talk to Bill I'll see what he can get. He's picked up some new suppliers so ya never know.


BTW - I'm not trying to push Viking on anyone and I don't make any money by sending people there....I just know Bill can find just about anything for a trailer, and he's got lots of patience or at least more than me....

I need about 4" wide. Wheels are 15".

Dan, could you share some glass info. Like how many layers will be required to hold up to being on the road, would that be the mold only or do you leave the pink in the fender when done?
