I'm still trying to decide if I just want to use a good tough outdoor grade paint or find vinyl or fiberglass sheeting to coat the roof with. Is there any consensus on what the best way to do the roof is?

I have the fiberglas from the box store on mine, and wished I didn't, it bubbles in the summer. I may have to take it off and use alum. You should think about it and use alum...Jim G

Now would you affix the aluminum sheet to the wood? Or do you attatch the aluminum directly to the roof spars? What thickness aluminim would you use?

I went with Black vinyl on mine, wanted the old woodie look so thats what I decided on. I do not store outdoors though. The only time she is exposed to the elements is in transport. Otherwise uinder an Ezee up or in the carport. Bought the material from an upholistry shop came in 60' width.

Though I will likely use a fiberglass layup on mine due to weight, probably nothing will outlast aluminum if it is done up right (IMHO). However, if the Glass id covered with UV paint and maintained, it will also give many years of service. Regardles of exactly how you do it, and it has been don MANY ways, the most important thing is keeping it sealed against water intrusion. Water, by far and away does more damage than everything else combined (the Sun being probably second in line).
