What do you guys use for mattress? I was working on the frame and my mom was asking me how big the sleeping area and I told her the dimensions and her response was oh about queen size. So it go me thinking where am i going to get a bed or mattress for this?

So I guess I would like to know what you did for bedding?

I picked up a 5 1/2 inch think queen size foam mattress from Ikea for $130. I also got a queen size bed in a bag from Target for the bedding.

Some of the us geezers like our inner-spring mattresses in the trailer, just gotta figure out how to get it in there. Teardrop has 5" foam futon with 3" memory foam topper. Gypsy trailer has the regular mattress with the springs....

You can either make it a stock size and put it in there or you can cut foam the size of your tear. Stock sizes below:
Standard Mattress Sizes

Foam pads can be found on ebay reasonbly cheap. Isellfoam I think is his name all sizes and free shipping to boot.

QUEEN PILLOWTOP....

But ya gotta get it in there before you close up the body. I shoved mine in just before I closed up the nose. Some folks have incorporated a removable panel in the galley wall that make it removable. Mine will be removed in about 3 pieces many years down the road Hopefully.

Inner spring mattresses are very comfortable!

A regular mattress can be difficult to fit through the door...

A futon mattress fits the bill perfectly! :thumbsup:

No, not a cheap 3" thick cotton pad, but a real 8" innerspring futon mattress.
They work because they're designed to fold and be flexible.

They cost around $180-$200, but are as, or more comfortable than the "real" mattress you have at home.

I've found the 4" thick (medium firm) Knox foam to work very well.
I'm not a "small" guy and I don't feel like the mattress is too thin in the Teardrop.
It's easy to get in and out of the tear and also easy to put the sheets on.

I'm a happy camper :thumbsup:

I think the wine and other "nightcaps" probably help, but I sleep like a baby (except for the crying and other things that babies do at night). :oops:

I went with a 5" futon mattress. Very comfortable and easy to fold.

I commandeered the mattress from a queen sofa/sleeper as it was headed for oblivion. Not quite a perfect fit, but the price was right.
