How deep is your galley?

With the frame almost done I am thinking of the wood side of things.

I have a 5 by 10 foot wide frame and have planned to do a full bulkhead at 80 inches from the front and have 40 for the galley area.

In talking this over my dad thinks its too much wasted space, having 40 inches. I told him i plan on the water tank and pump battery to be back there and leave alot of room in the galley for storage.

His comments have been giving me some thoughts.

We also have two small children 10 and 6, so I was thinking of maybe a loft or bunk area where the upper cabinets would be. Having the feet go into the galley side of things. I know they will not be little forever but i thought it would be good for them put a thin divider and each have thier own area.

It will depend on your profile. The angle of the hatch, etc.

Mine is 41" deep, allowing for a 54 quart 5-day ice chest to slide in lengthwise.

mine is 14" deep... see link, pg 7, 4th pic down. I carry my cooler in my van. under the counter is microwave, 2 storage drawers (small one on top, big one on the bottom), and space to carry pet cool.

My galley is about 28" deep. I also have 24" deep storage cabinets in the front.

About 20". Mine is just deep enough to put my cooler and stove in.

I don't got no galley space under the counter..... that's where my feet go when I sleep. Everything goes in the TV except for a few items on the counter top, like the coffee pot.

My lower section is 20-inches deep and the counter is 28-inches deep. The last four inches are taken up by the hatch when closed, so the counter is only 24-inches in size.

The foot of my bed goes under the counter.

My design is modified from the Grumman II profile, without the inset wheels. I stretched the floor length to 122.25" and the exterior wall to about 11'. The profile curves rearward beyond the floor by 3" and forward past the floor by about 9". My galley cabinets will start 3" in from the back of the floor so I don't have to bend forward to work in the galley. I'll have 30.25" under the galley counter top so there's enough room for a cooler to be stored lengthwise. Inside there will be about 83-84" for a queen sized bed, with a headboard cabinet in the front. The galley will have a cooler on one side, a center bank of 3 drawers, and a Camp Chef Camp Oven on the other side, all under the counter top. The battery will go in a vented battery box behind the bottom 2 drawers.

mine is 36" deep I think that anything more is a wast of space. You just cant access the back of the cabinets if they are any deeper. JMO

Mine is 20".
