opinions on stain

Played around with aniline dye and epoxy, am wanting opinions. I realize this is personal choice, but am asking anyway. The left peice is the bare plywood with epoxy, the middle is the same ply with dark red wine cherry, the right piece is a thinner dark red wine cherry and the lower parts is dark golden oak. All three peices have a quicky epoxy coat. The piece they are laying on is the bare plywood with no epoxy.

Thanks

Aaron...something to try...put on a couple more coats of epoxy and see how it looks. Do you want lots of grain to show with a lot of depth to it, want to blend in the different colors in the ply and make it more uniform in color overall? I like the darker reds but then I made my woodies to match the vintage boats mahogany appearance. Sort of depends on what you want for your trim color also, lots of contrast or not. Doug

I myself am not much of a fan of darker stains... unless they are used for trim pieces, so I prefer the epoxy only.

But if you really want to appeal to my taste then use just the epoxy for the body with cherry stained pieces as inlays for accent.

It depends on what you want it to look, what color you have on the roof, etc.

I've seen two combinations that I like. Black roof with darker stain for the "field" and contrasting lighter stain or clear for the trim. Mill aluminum, clear anodized aluminum or white roof with field and trim being a light to medium color stain.

Am thinking epoxy over the bare ply then the cherry for stain, I like the darker stripes down the plywood as it looks like hot rod scallops whch was one thought when I was thinking of painting it. Then planning on varnish so that will add a golden hue(correct?). Leaning towards vinyl for the top, somewhere in the grey to silver range.
