i just found out that my buddy dad has 50 sheets of concrete form 3/4 4x8 plywood sheets...he said these are a step below marine grade.....everything i find on form plywood is that its birch veneers and MDO in the center and it has some chemical in it to deter water and moisture...will CPES work into this with that chemical....like to get some info before i buy it...oh and he was asking $35.00 a sheet dont know if that is good or not.....thanks

I'd have to see a pic of it.the form plywood I have been around has an almost plastic like coating to it.I wouldn't think glue or sealer would not stick to well.

i think you can get good 3/4 ply for that price already....form ply around here is far from marine ply...its a very low grade (cdx)....im pricing materials for a build and im finding nice pine ac ply 3/4 for 38 a sheet....

Where does everybody find these great prices on ply? Perhaps I'm just using too nice of ply. I like to build with cabinet grade ply as all of the cdx and ac ply I see is just too warped and has too low quality a core for my tastes. In the end I pay more than 60/sheet, but I know the quality is the best!

concrete form plywood is extremely heavy and has a veneer on the outside
that is similar to a plasticy hardboard. If it's new it would make a great floor. If it's used, it should be full of an oil used to keep concrete from sticking to it. The veneer on the outsides is made to keep things from sticking so if you plan on gluing something to the outside, I would just plan on buying a good birch instead.

alot of weight in those concrete boards and they will be coated with chemicals and old concrete if they are used. A good plywood around here is $65 per sheet but I'd still stay away at $35 per sheet. It's not going to save you money and time. Try picking one up....you'll see a difference in weight.

We are lucky enough to have a cabinet shop right behind the shop...I get 3/4" 13 ply cabinet grade, birch veneer over a poplar core ply for under 40 bucks a sheet.....................

We're lucky to have plywood company of Ft. Worth. Sheet goods is pretty much ALL they do, so the prices are better than the big box, but the quality is higher.

i am lucky ...i have a lowes, and for 10, 20, 30, 40 bucks you can get the raunchiest knottiest twistedest ply in the world!! the selection is horrible...

it took me about an hour to dig thru and find 7 decent sheets of ply the other day...and i had them grab another stack from topshelf with the forklift, so i could dig thru it too..

the 2x selction wasnt much better....

i have what i need for my platform, but for my next lumber run, i will go somewhere else...im thinking about just goin into baton rouge, where i know i can get better stuff...

If your going to Baton Rouge you might try Hogan Hardwoods they have all kinds of plywood and solid hardwoods at a reasonable price. Check there hours I think they only open Mon thru Fri.

Hogan Hardwood is the supplier for the cabinet shop I get my ply from...truck comes up every week...didn't know they were located in Red Stick.............

We are building our teardrop out of arauco pine plywood. We bought it from Lowe's Home Improvement and it cost $35 a sheet. This plywood is for exterior use. There is an A and B side to each sheet. I stained the outside cherry and it took stain and poly (oil based) very well. You might want to try it.

I posted pics of our build on my album if you want to see what the plywood looks like stained. Yes, we had to go through lots of sheets at the store before finding the best pieces. But the price was right.

Hogan Hardwood in Baton Rouge is located on Darryl Dr. right off Choctaw and Sherwood Forest. Probably cheaper than buying it from a cabinet shop.
You can call them up for your order, they have a will call dept. where you pay and get loaded up, nice bunch of people to deal with.

ill check them out, thanks for the hit.....im fighting with the "junk" ply i got...this humidity from the rain gave my ply hell...i might be just throwing it away and starting over ....i kept it covered, it never got directly rained on, just so damp from humidity i guess...(i dont have an indoor workspace)
