Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Is 3/8" to thin for the middle section on a sandwich built wall. I've got the line up on 10 sheets of 4x8x3/8" plywood for $5 hear at work (that's total)
Trailer will only be 42"x7' ulta light if that helps with the answer.

My chuckwagon is 40" w by 78" long and I only used 7/16 osb. I think it will be more than adequate for what I am doing. The sidewalls wiggle a bit now but once the galley wall is in this will disappear.

You probably won't have a galley wall to stiffen it up will you?
That wiggle would be my only concern. Will it be teardrop shaped or more squared off.

With 1/4" skins? I believe that would be sufficient as some folks have been using a single thickness of 3/4" ply for sidewalls.

With skins, 3/8" should be plenty strong. You may have a challenge finding 3/8" insulation if that is the way you are going. Or, you double up the 3/8" and have a 3/4" void.

Like Bob said, my walls (with the inside skin only) were a little floppy initially. Once fastened to the floor (lap joint), bulkhead, and roof, all the play went away.

Here's the profile I've added lines for placement of a galley shelf and a thin cabinet reachable from both sides there will be no under the counter cause feet will go to the back. I do think I'll split the back to hinge down and up so I can slide a mattress in under the counter.

I wonder if there would be any warping problems with 3/8" plywood?

Other than not being able to get much insulation in there, I don't see any other problems... you weren't planning on taking that to the Shiveree were you?

If I sandwich 3/8" outside plus my interior wall it would be over 3/4"
Not really an issue if I can't get the wood from work I'll be going 1/2":( which is up in the air
I just can't pass up that price

Well yes,

Not much insulation but more than my brother had with his popup.
In that small a space I figure it will be to hot I'll have to open the window, I about roasted out of mine last Jan.

I'm out of vacation time for this year, but that resets in Jan. Will you send me a note when you know some more details about your next Shiveree. I'd really like to try and make it this time...

Yes there's electric, Last year we set up a 10x20 tent to have our pitch in in.

I really like your profile that will be a sweet little sleeper trailer.

That upper bulkhead and shelf will stiffen up the walls a bunch.

We are thinking on the same lines. I want a tiny sleeper
and tow the mobile kitchen in tandum when I go to
the gatherings.

On another note if we are gonna entice Mike down
for the Shivaree perhaps we should go north this
will help Jim and Karl as well. Potato Creek in
North Liberty or Tippecanoe River state park
in Winamac ?

outside 7 degrees with a 32 MPH wind inside a balmy 46 degrees. Thanks again Jeff for our big party tent!

I used 3/8th inch plywood on the outside walls of the windsong. It has had no problems with warping. It is now 3 years old.
