floors and axle placement

i was wondering if any one used hard wood floring insetd of carpet inside, and also how do you know where to place an axle if you have changed from the plans my frame is box is 5 x 10 with a 44 inch tounge
wher should i put my axle??
thanks any imput will help

You can work out the basics of axle placement using Andrew's weight and balance excel spreadsheet. See Andrew's Designs for that. I used it to determine my axle placement.

I've considered using a hardwood flooring but decided that it would be a lot of work and weight that wouldn't be visable due to the mattress over it. That's the fun part of a home built teardrop. Just build it like YOU like it!

My axle placement was determined by 2 things (not related to balance), the door and the fender. I had already cut the door out so my placement was limited to where the fender fit. I probably had a range of about 8inches. I put it closer to the front in case I installed a tongue box.
