Has anyone tried using Hurricane Hinges on side doors? Or for any other vertical application.

I can't see them working very well vertically, as the two halves slide into each other. You can put a set screw into the end of the larger section to hold it but being made of aluminum it would wear quickly with weight resting on it. Just my read on it.

...yep, the HH is not meant for vertical application for the reasons stated by HD...the offset aluminum piano hinge from Grant, a reg SS piano hinge or the living plastic hinge from Monroe are all much better choices.......

Gary, I know nothing of the hinge you used and I am sorry to hear of the problems it caused you...I have been using this Monroe Living Hinge clicky ...it has been out in the sun and weather for 3 years both on the hatch and the doors and is just as strong today as the day it was installed...there are differences in everything.................

The Monroe hinge is a metal bonded composite; not plastic as we know it. That's tuff stuff!!
