I have my sides up on my '47 Kitt rebuild, finally!

Do you all think there is enough room between my walls and the torsion bars??? I don't remember the distance when I demo'd the Kitt on 9/7. I have 1/2" right now.

Gabe - Let me issue a disclaimer first. I'm still building my first teardrop. That said, I don't think 1/2" is a problem. That is what I have.

Gabe, there is very little side to side flex of the torsion arm...on my present tear, I have 1/4" per side and no problems...on our first tear there was only about a fat sheet of paper clearance and it never interfered...with a half inch you should have no worries...........

Thanks for the reply!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help! I can rest easy on this point. I installed my spars yesterday and am painting in and out with oil based paint. It is finally starting to look like a TD :)

Gabe, like Jack says, 1/2" should be fine. That's just about what I have on mine. The only problem that you may run into is the tire clearance to the tear side. With the wheels I'm using I ended up with only 1/16" clearance so I added 1 1/2" spacers to the hubs. Now no problem.

I had to cut away some material for the arm to swing in to get the close 1/2"
