How long did it take to finnish your Tear drop. I am getting ready to build a cubby. I would like to get it done by Thanksgiving

I have not finished mine yet, but I have heard that the average is about 120 hours!

Took us 5 months.

Did mine in four months, but I hurried.

On Jan 19th my HF Trailer was delivered. I'm still working but I"m really taking my time. I have no deadline. So a little less than 4 months so far and I have to finish:

1 door
Hatch
Galley
Inside cabinets

Working 8 hrs a day I could probably finish in a Week. I'm looking at July 1st - maybe -- that would be 5 maybe 6 months.

In the winter "Building Season" I work 4 days at my Job as an RV Technician and 3 days a week at "Teardrop Central".
I started my SlumberCoach Jan 8 and took it to a TearJerkers event the third week of Feb.

I build my Production Bear Bones Trailer in 3 Days. When you've built a trailer over & over, have all the patterns, know all the dimensions things go a lot easier.

But please don't think I'm the Norm, I am a little "Nutso" I just go into my shop and don't come out for days. I like it there, the voices go away. Its my "Happy Place".

Mine took about 40 hours. No plans, just built freehand. It's a pretty simple tear built on a HF frame but it works great.

Thats the best way to do it. I envey Guys like you, No plans, no drawings no idea of the outcome, everybody against you. Your "NUTS". Your waisting your money...Yaddy..Yaddy ..yada....But look, heres a really Cool trailer. To boldly go...I really respect a person that Just Plain "DOES IT"

About 6 months.

Started mine on New Years Day 2005. Interestingly it doesn't look like it's changed too much in over two and a half months..........

Gotta get back on it some time soon. Originally wanted to have it finished May 13th (in two days), needed to have it done by June 15th. Not much chance of either day happening.

Ah well. Such is life.

About 6 1/2 months now. No real plans to speak of, just figured things out when need be. I'm retired so I have the time to go at it pretty steady. Finally finished all construction. Today I finished first coat of primer inside and out. It goes slow. Paintin's not my favorite thing to do. I figure about another month to camp in it. (in my yard)

I don't mean to be a devils advocate here, but the time it takes to finish your tear depends on how you want to finish it, what your abilities are and what you have for tools. Gimme more details, you can cut a lot of corners by buying a frame. A woody takes more time depending on how you choose to finish it off. How fancy do you want the interior...etc.... I guess that my real meaning is there are a whole lot of variables. I don't think there is any time line you can rely on. I started mine Feb. 1 and plan on having it done to go to Minden June 22. I scratch built the frame, and am doing a woody with a trick metal finish on the top skin. It just sort of depends on your free time, I've only got weekends. My opinion is that if you set too tight of a schedule, the fun and creativity of the build may suffer. I am under the gun to get mine done to go to Minden, and now it's more of a challenge than a lot of fun....Regardless of all the above, I'ts an incredibly fun project and the real fun is having others be amazed and enthused with your tear, it's worth it....just my opinion.....Doug Hodder

I started last August and I'm still not done. But, I'm getting closer. I hope to have the doors and the hatch done by this weekend. There's a little light showing at the end of the tunnel.

I wasn't going to put a timeline on myself, but after attending Grant's gathering I decided to look into doing a gathering next summer here in the Redwoods of Northern California. So... I am setting a loose deadline of having the trailer done this time next year...
I have been planning on building my frame for almost a month now and something has come up each week that was work related, which wiped out my weekends. (Gotta stop letting that happen)

I've been working on mine for 8 months now. No plans, figuring out everything as I go along. Used sandwich construction, which added to the time. I do my work strictly on weekends but I don't work on it every weekend. I usually build till I get to a point where I need supplies.

I'll get this thing done eventually. So far I'm happy with how it is turning out.
