What kind of hatch are you building? Mine is along the lines of Steve Frederick's plans. The hatch seal on his plans is much different that most use.

My design does not have a galley, but if it did, I would go with Steve's plans. They seem completely waterproof and foolproof.

One very common sense piece of advise I give when asked

"What can I do about Spring Back"?

Use materials that Don't Spring Back.

I use a piece of FRP, good side in for the base and the aluminum over that. Edged with

All materials have a very low "Spring Back" rate.
