I am considering putting a basic shower/toilet ("shoilet") set up in my TTT so of course the water has to have a place to go! I need a shower basin of course and a tank. Of course I have no idea where to get shower basins' or water tanks. Anyone have a suggestion or two?

Gray and black water tanks are expensive. I don't know why.

For my gray-water I converted a fresh water tank that I found for 10 dollars used. More recently I got lucky and found a 6 gal black-water tank for $50 new that I can use with my toilet. I got lucky with a new unused Thetford V toilet off of ebay too at $70 shipped.

If you can stay with a stock sized tank the $ will be a lot less. I was going to use a gray water tank that I scrounged five years ago, mounted below my floor, but I have a 4" dropped axle so ground clearance would be iffy. The revised plan is to have the gray water tank on board, above the floor. A bilge pump will take the shower water from below the pan to the shower-water-only holding tank. I know that sounds complicated but I will be having a stand-up shower in a low to the ground trailer and I wasn't willing to risk whacking something with the holding tank while going down the road....it would have been just in front of and lower than the drop axle beam, about 8" ground clearance. It would have been OK with a straight axle.

I purchased a couple of 16 gallon tanks off eBay as this size would fit under the beds. One will be used for fresh water and the other for used shower water. Originally I was going to carry 32 gallons fresh and use the belly tank, but I'm going to make a trade-off on this one. By having all the water on the inside of the trailer, freezing weather won't be as much of an issue, and I'll also be able to insulate the floor better in the area where the lower tank was going to be located.

There are several sizes to choose from, but as you do research on this you will find a wide disparity in pricing. You may pay dearly for some of the non-common sizes.

I have placed a couple of orders with these folks and they seem pretty good and ship quickly. Check their feedback. I've thus far talked with Paul, his wife, and his daughter...they are indeed a family operation, nice to see that these days.

RV holding tanks both black and gray are black in color so light doesn't get in and start all the little "beasties" (bacteria) from growing in the tank.

But other than that...and the larger discharge fittings I see no reason why a fresh water tank (painted black) wouldn't work.

Now, back to the discharge fittings.

I have NEVER seen an "Added on fitting" installed in a tank that worked/drained properly. Other than a plastic weld on.

There are many vendors to buy tanks from, even custom tanks. Check out PPL Motorhomes. I have purchased a tank and other accessories from them.

I'm using a cheap plastic oil drain pan from Walmart. I've painted it gray so campground peeps don't think I'm changing oil with it. It doesn't look like an oil pan anymore, and makes an excellent gray water catch pan. Has a big opening on its side and a smaller spout in the top to pour the water out.

That's what I'm thinking. Paint an old outboard 5-gal tank grey, set it under the trailer with the outlet hose leading into it and dump it somewhere appropriate when it's full or you're ready to leave. It's just grey water, not black. It doesn't even matter if it does get some beasties in there, it's not like you're going to drink from it.

Thats' an idea. Hmmm
