La Tortuga update

RD If the hatch supports are simply sliding down with the weight. You may be able to modify the bottom block. If the black knob is like most it has a 3/4 round shoulder and if you were to drill a series of holes with a spade bit only a short ways into the bottom block say about 3" apart you could tighten down the knob enough to lock in the appropriate recess hole and no more slide. Temporarily tack on a scrap of 3/8 plywood or scrap 1x to help guide the spare bit to cut correctly. Just a thought Bob

The problem is not with them sliding down I think the springs will help while holding the hatch and extending the supports up. I thought about taking a forstner bit a putting a lock hole on the stationary part. Like I said they need a little fine tuning but thats cool. They are going to work just fine
