Where to buy mahogany plywood

I've seen that 1/8" mahogany plywood has been used on a few teardrops to skin the outside sides. Where in the world can you buy it? I can't find anything online thinner than 1/4", and have no idea where to start looking locally.

And, where do you get the thin aluminum to skin the roof?

Total newbie, and wondering why I am considering such a project when I don't know squat!

Knowledge will come weedhopper 8) I didn't know squat either until I started lurking on this site. Ask questions and many will come to your aid.

As far as the ply, try a wood shop that supplies ply to cabinet makers. You aren't going to find it at a big box store. The bigger urban area you live in the better your prospects of finding someone.

I got my 5x10 aluminum at an aluminum supply place near here that supplies aluminum to sign makers. You can also try a trailer repair place, they usually have aluminum on rolls.

I'm sure others will weigh in on their sources. Good luck and continue to learn.

Look up "semi" trailer repair shop for the aluminum. They use .040 for the roof and it comes on a roll that is 103" inches wide and they will cut it as long as needed. They sell it by the foot.

Ask some local custom cabinet makers where do they get 1/8 plywood.

Thanks,

Dont know to much about the Aluminum.

But the Mahogany ply, dont be fooled by what some will call Mahogany ply but is really Luan or South Pacific Mahogany, while it is good for interior doors skins in your home, building doll houses etc. this wood is JUNK. The Box stores sell it and I use the 1/8 ply. for making templates, but this stuff is.... just try bending it to any shape. Look for the subject in this forum "Exploding Plywood"
Now the real Mahogany ply. though pricey is avalable through as was mentioned Cabinet shops or suppliers. In Sacramento I can tell you excatly where to but it. Hope you find what your looking for...

Thanks! Looks like just the kind of place I need to get good plywood, and they are close enough to me.
