Is there any particular reason to put flooring down in the teardrop? I don't really see the need, except in the galley part, since the entire floor will be covered by the mattress.

I was going to put a hunk of vinyl floor covering on the floor until I realized it would weigh 20 or 30 pounds and that paint is a lot lighter.

Likely no one will see the floor, but you!

But, there are lots who have nice floor coverings under their mattress.

Yep it just gives that finished look. Also it aids in insulation. Think about it. But like that, to each his own.

I put 12"x12" vinyl tiles on our floor, and I even went to the trouble of making it into a Swiss flag (go figure). It was cheap and didn't take me long to do.

Who is going to see it? No one but us. But I like it and like Gage said, it gives it a finished look. It also gives a nice smooth surface for the foam mattress to lay on.

If you plan to sell it, it might be more profitable to sell it with a cheap floor covering than a mattress. Or it may just open you up to keeping your mattress when you do sell it.

If you decide not to add flooring material over the deck, you might want to at least put some sort of finish coating on it to prevent water damage.

...One never knows how or when water will work its evil ways!

I put a carpet remnant on the floor space I could see with rubber mats for wet shoes....
