was searching around for rhinoliner alternatives and found herculiner for only 30 bucks a gallon (1 gallon enough for 6ft truckbed)
reading the reviews it appears to have a fairly rough finish due to the rubber particles in it.
i wonder how adversely that rough finish would affect the camper going down the road. should i look for a coating with no rubber particles in it. does anyone know of one. originally i was going to use FRP on the outside of the camper which is pebbled as well so i guess you cant get totally smooth.
no wind tunnel tests here lol.

The bumps or roughness won't affect aerodynamics too much. Golf balls are dimpled, which actually improves their aerodynamics.
Shape is more important than texture, if we're only talking aerodynamics. Herculiner shouldn't be an issue.
If you want a smooth finish with bed liner, look into Durabak. It's expensive though...

I picked up a gallon not long ago. It is a rough finish. It has rubber particles in it as well.

There is a guy on ebay selling herculiner at $65 a gallon + 20 for shipping. He is in Northbrook IL if you want to make the trip. I would count on 2 gallons for a tear.

not sure if Herculiner is UV resistant, but I know you can buy Durabak that is UV resistant (very important when you live in the desert and it averages 300+ days of sun a year). I'm planning on using smooth, UVR, Durabak

Herculiner is one of my sponsors now, The entire outside and the floor and 5 inches up the walls inside are all Herculined on my Ogre Rv. It sure turned out nice! not a single leak. I even used Herculiner to seal around some fittings bolted to the roof.

When I used Herculiner I emailed the company, I calculated the area I needed to cover, roughly 4 sheets of plywood or approximately 128 square feet, they said I would need 2 gallons, and I used every last bit of it.

been thinking of using some sort of bedliner for the front lower half of my build, to protect from debris. also thought of block diamond plating to match my jeep.

The only thing I didn't like about the Herculiner, was the sand paper like texture. Every time I bumped into the outside wall, I got a bit of an abrasion. defiantly get some samples and compare textures.
