Is this the right asphalt stuff??

Postby TwilightLane » Wed Mar 24, 2010 6:58 pm

I swung by Ace Hardware to get a gallon of asphalt emulson for the undercarriage. Is this the right stuff - it's all they had. They didnt have the Henry brand in stock. The fine print seems to indicate that it will always stay soft/tacky. But it's really not clear. Thanks fer yer help!

If you use something that "will always stay tacky" I would avoid it. The evil smelling black goo is bad enough without having it get on everything forever........ :? JMO.

I had great luck with Henry 107 asphalt emulsion. Low smell, water clean up(water soluable), and fast drying. I got mine at home depot in a 1 gal can. Check your Ace product label for how you clean tools and spills. If it's soap and water, then your product is probably comparable to to the 107. Also, check the dry times. I have heard of some very long dry and stink times for some of this evil black stuff.
