Stain and Glue

Has anyone out there glued bare wood trim to a surface that has been stained with oil base stain such as minwax stain, but not varnished yet?? The stain is dry. Would Titebond II work in a situation such as that??

I'm not familiar with "consumer/retail" products like minwax. everything I've used is commercial stuff so I might be way off here but, it's likely you didn't wipe the residual stain off well enough or you wiped well but did it too late and left a residue of pigment on the wood's surface. this is pretty much the same as a coat of dust as far as a surface for finishes and adhesives to adhere to..Miriam C. wrote:alftinc wrote:Has anyone out there glued bare wood trim to a surface that has been stained with oil base stain such as minwax stain, but not varnished yet?? Depends on how much stress your wood piece is under. Definitely give it a sanding. I had trouble with varnish sticking in some places where I had Minwax. Don't really know why. Had to sand it really wall and re-varnish.
