I was at the local junk yard today looking for rims and found an old van with nice hinged pop out windows. I plan on using 5/8 plywood for my side walls and wondered if windows will work? Thanks

Well, it depends, how do they mount? If they won't work and need a thicker wall, you could add a frame inside to thicken the wall around the window.

Hope you can make it work!

They are mounted in the van with the typical rubber gasket., thats why I didnt know if they would work on the thicker walls of the TD? :)

I have heard of people getting rubber gaskets like that at Austin Hardware. They have the inside track to fit the window and the outside track varying thicknesses to fit different thickness walls. Do a search on the threads and see what comes up.

I saw somebody make thier windows like that really easily, they cut out a tear shaped hole in the wall (I think thier wall was over an inch thick), and made the window out of a piece of lexan. The gromet just snapped in place.

Personally, I can't comment on them, or on Austin Hardware. I know for some reason Mad Jack said he could no longer recomend Austin Hardware, but I never a reason why.

Good Luck

Window question...Has anyone built their own wood frame windows for a TTT? That is my plan using 1x2 frame and Lexan. Any ideas or tips?
Thank you in advance for you knowledge and comments.

It's been done. Try searching the forum, and I think there might be some information in sdtripper2's index at the top of the page.

...on Austin Hdw...they redid their website a couple of yrs ago and MASSIVELY raised prices on everything...depending on who you got on the phone while ordering, the price quoted could vary greatly...I had an account with them and always got the good price...UNTIL...I ordered a set of latches...got the good price...but only one latch(they were sold by the pair)...the only way they would exchange was to reorder and pay for a second set of latches and return the others for credit(which I did)...after many calls, I never got my money back...bad taste, yeah I got one from them...I now use McMaster Carr...basically got the same stuff with better prices and service.................

Also, check with your employer. A lot of companies have acounts with McMaster Carr, Grainger, Fastenall, etc. Most of the time you can get the "good prices" by asking for the (insert company name) price. At Fastenall I get the same price as I would if I bought 100 units.
