Tiny slide out

I have this idea of building a tiny slide out, maybe a bit larger than a drawer, for a cat bed. My idea is to cut a square about 2' x2' and put a plexi-sided slide out into it for my cat to sleep in up off the bed, and also look at all the critters outside. Has anyone ever done a small slide out (in reality a push-out)? I don't know how to use a design program though I think it would be much easier to explain with drawings.

Sounds like a good idea. I made slide outs for my stove and my cooler. It was easy to do.

As far as the cat, it has been my experience that cat beds are hit and miss. The cat is going to sleep where he wants, cat bed or not. I hope it works for you.

Sorry, I don't get it, I'm a dog person. So you want to put your cat in a box and push him outside to view wildlife?

lol..something like that. She is an indoor cat and so far she has enjoyed going camping in the tent with us. She is harness trained and will go walking with us etc. The problem is we have taken her in the tent previously in some more wild areas and some coyotes got a bit too curious (this was in CO). Ripped a good hole in the screen of the tent and freaked her out.

If its just a weekend, we can leave her at home, but anything longer and she comes with. With the Tear, we can have it hardsided and climate controlled...but she will want a space to look out when we aren't around. Cats like to sleep up...I will need the cabinet space so the only alternate is her own ledge. With this, I can accomplish both and not hit my head on anything.

Not only cats. I spent good money and time building my dog a great insulated dog house over a year ago. The only way to get him to go in there is to let him see you throw a biscuit inside. Then he will go in there, grab the biscuit, and bring it outside to eat it. He prefers to seek shelter under my woodworking shop even though it is a tight squeeze for him to get under there. I have given up on it, guess somebody will get a bargain on a nice custom built home for their dog.

If it is all plexiglass, it might get too hot during the day. Also, if a preditor sees the cat through the plexiglass, it might attack that.

Not to discourage you or your idea...however, it seems like a lot of work/hassle to build an option that may not be a real plus if you decide to sell the trailer. You'd probably be real bummed if the cat refused to use it after it was all said and done. Just an opinion. Doug

How about building a removable window shelf/ledge? That way, you could have it there for the cat when it wants it and not, when you don't. Also, you'd be able to see if the cat might use that, before you start cutting a hole in your trailer.

HA HA, I had a hound dog I built a dog house for, he would just pee on it. He has since passed on, and I now have two beagles. One sits in the dog house and watches his brother walk around the yard barking in the air while it rains

I'm not trying to threadjack, so in light of staying on topic. The bubble on the upper ramp door at the aft of this aircraft is $$$

But, you could maybe do something along those lines.



I used to crew this aircraft before I changed career fields. As soon as I heard the word "bubble", it made me think of a joke we played on the newbies. We would send someone into the plane to sit in the bubble with their pants and underwear down, then tell the newbie to go inspect the bubble for cracks
