Has anyone made there own set of rock guards? I did a google site search and nothing came up.

I really need something like this:

http://www.mudflaps.com/

or this...

or even this...

It shouldn't be too tough to make them. I couple of heavy rubber mud flaps (or floor mats) from wally world, a little bit of angle (iron or aluminum), and a clamping mechanism of some sort should get it done. Any thoughts???

I ened up buying one of these.. It works exactly as I planned, with angle iron and a clamp around my receiver, but it offers more protection than a couple of mud flaps. For $69 it didn't cost much more.

When I got my old Ford truck, it had something like that on it, but it was a piece of angle iron attached to the bumper on the step. I de-mounted it and mounted it on the draw bar, so when I took out the reciever, the mud flapps came with it.

Get a piece of 1" angle iron the length of your trucks bumper, mark center, and drill a 1/4" hole about 1.25" on each side of center. Next, take a 3" piece of 1" angle iron, and repeat the process. Place big piece on top of draw bar, small piece on bottom, and use 1/4" bolts to clamp the two pieces together on the drawbar. Now, just mount some big old mud flaps on the big angle iron and you are set.
