Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hey folks.I needs some ideas and or advice . I cant seem to find wide enough aluminum for the hatch edge to cover it fully on the sides.

Any suggestions or...photos or

I have the Euro Caravan moulding but it dont cover enough. UGH:



Maybe I should contact Grant at Lil Bear to ship some or can I make my own ? Sort of lost id say

What are the dimensions of your hatch. I was thinking that you could turn a piece on it's side so that a 4 foot wide piece is now 4 feet tall and the length is now the width.

61 inches = 154.94 centimeters

make it out of fiberglass slipfrom it on some mdf are hardboard ,thin 2 layers then add to your ribs then build it up a litte more on the inside then paint

Not sure exactly what you need, but I used 1" angle aluminum and annealed it to finish the outside edges and it comes down plenty far to cov er on the sides. Should be some pics in my build photos (link in my signature block)!

okay I must have been drinking when I answered.

You are looking for molding not the sheet of aluminum

I may be needing to do this on my build too.

One of the things I have thought about is to use two pieces of aluminum. The top piece of aluminum would be the same edge molding that I'm using on the rest of the teardrop. Below it would be aluminum angle that would have sufficient dimension to cover the "gap".

Hey there my friends. We may have a nice home solution to our dilemma.
Sun is out here this evening at 2100 hrs local time and just came into the house from designing & tinking. Ahh wait thinking. tomorrow afternoon we may have it complete thanks to our new neighbor who loves tinkering with wood, motorcycles and old cars..

Using 2 mouldings of aluminum, router and rubber seals. It will look and do nicely. Cant locate any wider aluminum profiles yet even though I searched Paul C. Thank you for the leads. I will call around tomorrow yet but with good luck we,ll have a nice looking rear end. And sealed. I,ll take some pics also so if anyone else has the same problem or situation it may help.
