Non Traditional hinges for the hatch and door

So originally I was planning on using the harsh environment plastic piano hinges from Mcmaster Carr for both the hatch and my door. However, I'm now wondering what others have done. What about simple gate hinges? Could they work for both? I've seen pond liners used to seal the gap on the hatch, what else would work or has been done?

I can't say I have any great reasons for not ordering the plastic hinge, I just want to see the other methods I guess.

I use 3 of the short stubby but heavy duty gate hinges and 3 years and 20 outings without a problem.

I installed them over a double layer of house wrap and beefed my final roof spar to a full 2x4 laid flat and the top of the hatch has a 2x4 rabbetted into the ribs that run vertical. Over them was my roofing lexan to within 1/4" of the hinge barrel then a layer of ice dam tape bloused loosely over the barrell and a final cap of rubbermaid black rubber shelf liner also bloused loosely. I later slipped in a section of 1/2" pvc to divert the water to the sides.

We used piano hinges for the look we wanted.
We also used oak around all the edges of the doors and the door frame.
Those screws are never going to pull out.
Use a Grant Whipp hinge on the galley lid.

Used the plastic hinge on my galley, and Got a heavy duty piano hinge of an ambulace at the juck yard for $5 for my doors. Gonna go get another for the galley cause there might be a chance I'll have to cut the hinge to repair my hatch.
