Hatch trim clearance

On my teardrop, I'm using RV roof edge molding along the roof/sidewall junction and on the hatch. Along the roof edge, I've installed it "tight" to the sidewall. How much horizontal clearance should I allow between the inside vertical portion of the RV roof edge molding and the galley sidewall of the teardrop?

(I was thinking to allow about an 1/8" clearance.)

I just ran into this problemo myself. I ended up with between 1/8 and 1/4 on mine.

We went on a little shake-down cruise recently and even went through a decent "West Texas" thunderstorm and everything stayed nice and dry!

I was...surprised...!
...and very happy! :thumbsup:

Would either of you guys post some pics of your trim please.
I'm getting real close to that step and would feel a little more comfortable doing it if i saw what other people have on theres.

Chuck,

I'm using the "wide-lip" RV Roof Edge molding from Grant at Li'l Bear. I don't have a real good picture, but this shows how it looks installed (without the vinyl strip that will cover the screws.)

The left side was the first to get the trim and it turned out quite nice...

The right side was more of a PITA. I had to relocate my holes. This piece will be replaced soon. I am embarassed to show this, but I hope it helps someone else out there... :thumbsup:

I used 1 X 1 X 1/8 6063 Architectural Aluminum that I pre-drilled, then annealed.
