Floor hatch trim

I have a sunken storage unit in my newly built floor and am having trouble finding something to trim out the lid. The storage cover fits flush with the floor and I have vinyl on. Just looking for a thin metal or possibly plastic 1/2" angle trim that has pre-drilled holes in it to dress up the edges of the lid and the hole. Or maybe something with no holes and applied with glue. I went to Home Depot and didn't see anything suitable.

What have others used?

What about the aluminum edging used for stair steps. That is what I will use on my drop floor.

The edging for stair steps that I have seen was too wide. I need 1/2". Today I bought some stock 1/2 aluminum angle for the edge of the opening but not sure if I will use it. Ideally, I want something with pre-drilled holes that allow a flat head screw to fit flush. Lowes and HD didn't have any countersinks that can be used on metal so I guess I will keep looking and if there isn't anything to be found I will use the stock angle and maybe settle with raised screws. I wonder if Gorilla glue would work instead of using screws?

I also bought the U shaped stock aluminum to fit on the edges of the lid but on the way home realized that it won't fit with the extra thickness of the vinyl flooring. Oh, well.

I used some aluminum angle that I picked up at Lowes. It did not have any predrilled holes. I drilled some holes on the parts that would not show and attached it with flat head screws. I think it turned out OK.

I saw your post yesterday. It looks good. I will be doing that if I don't find any pre-drilled trim.

You must be hoping that no passing helicopter sees that "X marks the spot" floor and lands on it, or did you build the floor strong enough for that...
