Door T-molding Questions

Postby aggie79 » Mon Jul 12, 2010 11:31 am

I'm almost ready to build my doors and had a couple of questions about details on installing T-molding:

1. My doors have some 90-degree angles. How do you detail the T-molding at these corners? Do you miter the T-molding at the corners? Or do you overlap the portions that lay flat against the sidewall/door almost like a half-lap joint?

2. I will be using aluminum door/wall cap to finish the edges of my doors. Should I overlap the T-molding on top of the edge cap or cut the edge cap back to the depth of the T-molding?

Thank you for your time. I'll see if I can make a few (pencil) sketches to better show what I am trying to say.

Hi Tom, Aren't your doors and Thomas's Luxury Tent design similar? As I remember he mitered his t-molding. By the way, your build is just awesome to follow; exceptional workmanship my friend.

Cheers, Dave
