Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I was telling my son and husband my possible locations for the deep cycle battery (which is large and would take up considerable space in my galley), and the 5 lb. LP tank (that I had planned to mount on the tongue and run protected copper tubing under the trailer to the galley in back for connection to the Camp Chef oven/stove), they suggested these two locations behind the fenders and in front of the tail lights. It would shorten the connection between tank and oven; and it would keep battery and LP tank separated. This would also mean I'd have to to take the trailer back to Perham Steel to get two trays welded to the sides of the trailer.
Just use your imagination to picture a wood sided, white vinyl roofed teardrop camper between the two wheels.



My initial reactions were:
1) Not a very protected place for the gas cylinder...could be a BIG problem if I was hit on the side.
2) All the weight is in the back end, I might not have enough tongue weight.
3) The battery is HEAVY. Would it be too lopsided?
4) How would I make the battery theft-proof?
5) Then there's the esthetics.

Opinions? Warnings? Affirmations?

I"m not sure what laws might dictate but if you buy a trailer the propane tank is always located at trailer center on the tongue. I'd think it would be the safest place in case of getting hit by another vehicle. A few extra feet of conduit pipe as long as it's installed right.. well what's the problem with that?

The battery wouldn't be as critical but still I'd want it on the tongue.

And on my trailer, I physically connect my stove from the outside. I don't want any gas lines still connected to a tank on the inside of my tear. I'm afraid that should a valve leak or be left open a bit it would fill the inside of that small cabin in a short while in the middle of the night. So, I open the back and take the hose from the outside and screw it on to the inside. Before bedtime I disconnect it and make sure it's outside the cabin.

You could put the battery under the trailer and make an access hatch in the floor. Jegs sells a nice bolt on battery mount.

Look at the law that why you see them on the out side
If you get a leak It will be bad for your dog cat and even you

you could get an AGM battery and install in the tear. Also I liked a small 2 LB propane tank for traveling. Easy to Fill and kept in the galley when travelling. Not too dangerous in my mind since I kept the green 1/2 lb tanks in there before.

All were put out when camping though. I also had a carbon monoxide and smoke detector in my tear.
