Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I have been searching on here trying to find out if anyone has ever thought of using Tar-paper under the Aluminum? I have been in Home construction for 30 years and we use it behind siding and brick work and under all shingle work. Will this work or is there a downside? It is waterproof and one roll will do a tear. I am getting ready to cut out the walls for my Kenskill and I was thinking of doing it to mine.

I don't see why tar paper wouldn't be a secondary defense against water leaks but would seem to me to be a lot of added weight. The time spent with installing the tar paper could be used to ensure that all joints fit and are properly sealed in the first place which would also solve the potential water leak.

I was not sure if this topic had been discussed or not. I tried the search and never found it so I wanted to ask. Thank you for your answer to my question. I have worked around water restoration for many years and did not know if this might would help on a tear or not. Have a great evening

Just remember that water penetration is through the screw or nail holes which will also be in the tar paper.

This is very true gauge. I really want to know if this will help in any condensation problems within the tear? Or would I be better off appling CPES on the walls and then install the aluminum? Thanks

Do you plan on insulating your walls and ceiling? I have 3/4" hard foam in my walls and ceiling and the only place I get any condensation is around my sun roof.

And it stinks when it is hot! Would kind of be like sleeping in a high way.

Gage, I was going to do a 3/4 wall for my first build, but I am not sure which would be the best solution for condensation. I was going to apply CPES over all the wood then cover in Aluminum. I would take any advise that you might would have that may help me in my build. You and the others on this site are great people with alot of knowledge and I thank all of you for your help so far.

Shadow Catcher, I think that you may have something there. It may get pretty hot in there. This Tear will be for my daughter and I to travel in. She is a very outdoors person and she is 13. I just want to make her as comfortable as possible with the least amount of worries. Thank you for your comments. They were well put

Just as a side note. Condensation is caused by ones worm breath (while sleeping) hitting the cold ceiling and then turning to liquid. One of the reasons for opening a window at night is to help equalize the inside/outside temps. I just don't think tar paper would do anything to fight the condensation issue. But I could be wrong.
