pros & cons of Solid/Framed walls and roof?

I'd be interested to hear opinions on the differences in building with solid, 3/4 inch ply, as against framed construction.
I'm leaning towards framed, using 1/8 ply glued and screwed inside and out, sandwiching polystyrene foam in 3/4 inch pine framing.
Anyone care to comment?
Thanks,
David

For me it would depend on curvature. Curved frame poses many difficulties for me. The alternative is 3/4 ply with cutouts routered out and filled with insulation. You basically achieve the same result.

Either is structurally fine, just depends on whether you like to be warm, and like quiet. Framed with insulation keeps noise out as well as cold (and keeps cool in if A/C).

I am doing insulated walls, but the reasons for not insulating sidewalls are that solid walls are less complex to build (therefore quicker) and less expensive.

I am building with a "sandwich" wall design. 1/4" ply outside / 3/4" 1x's / 5mm luan inside
1) Not counting my time, less expensive because I have 1x material on hand (cheaper for me)
2) I like the idea of having insulation for a wider weather range (last vacation went from 34 & snowing to 94 & dry in less than a week
3) A little lighter
4) Like as already been mentioned, can run wiring in walls a little easier?
Just my thought (didn't say it was a good one)

Thanks for the replies. This website is so friendly and helpful!
Paul - I've been on to your site and studied your build - most helpful.
Aggie - Just started on yours,
Len - thanks for the link. Didn't come up on my search. Obviously I used the wrong parameters in the search. This link is great, I'm studying all the opinions.
My first opinion was to go for a framed construction, now I'm wavering!
Now I need to upgrade my internet plan. Just received email from my provider telling me I have exceeded my download limit, only one week in!
Thanks again, all.

Hi David,
I have used 1/2 in. ply outside and floor with 1by framing and Paneling
inside with 3/4 pol insulation. I must use a/c for Florida. You can see
my build photos.
Have fun.

Though I am working with a "sandwich", you could really save some time by using solid. Cut and slap it up there!
Keep searching this topic has been around a while!
I remember one of the members had used a router to almost completely peel away spots for the insulation in. It looked pretty neat.
