Corner Edge Trim bending

Hey, I found a source for some corner bead trim (All-Rite). Someone gave the link here a while back.

I'm at the point where I'm designing the side wall profile of ourTTT. What I'd like to know is how small a radiused bend the aluminum corner trim can take. It's the kind with the plastic insert strip that covers the channel with the screws. The radius on the back side is 16". The front is more like 30. Is the 16" ridius too much for this trim?

...my front box has a 12" radius and with just a minor bit of massaging with a rubber hammer, it went fine...work it very slowly and you should be fine.................

What MJ said...take your time and a rubber hammer is helpful.

On another note with the All-Rite M35 Molding.

All-Rite is not really a good sourse.

Try to buy it from a Local RV dealer. A LOT of them have it and in long legnths.

The shipping from All-rite for a few pieces will Kill ya.

In addition to a rubber hammer, I also used a dead blow hammer - the plastic one with steel shot in the head. Like everyone said, the keys are to use a light touch and to go slowly.

I installed the the "wide-lip" RV trim around the 6" radius at the lower front portion of my teardrop. It's hard to see in the picture, but I did trim down the"wide leg" about 1/8" through the radius and then tapered the cut 3" on both sides of the radius.



The same trim was installed on my hatch. The lower radius is 10".



Since I've never done this before, I ended up with one "experimental" piece of trim that was pretty severly botched on my first attempt. If your supplier is a distance from your home, you may want to buy an extra strip of trim in case you have the same experience.
