Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

My wife and I are the proud new owners of B Bodemer's woodie tear.



I had started a Benroy build about a year ago and realized that I didn't have enough time to dedicate to the build. This tear is beautiful and superbly constructed. And the best part is we can go camping immediately!

Anyway, we spent last Saturday loading it with our camping gear and going over what we might want to do to personalize it.

One of the first things I would like to do is add a tongue box for the jacks, canopy and miscellaneous tools. Our tow vehicle has a 150lb tongue weight limit so a plastic one may be the best option.

My concern is attaching it. The tongue is a single bar, not an A frame. I don't want to drill any attachments into the trailer.

Anybody have some ideas?

I used two U bolts. I placed a couple 3/4x3/4 angle iron front and back across the box, then drilled through the iron and box and installed the U bolts. The angle iron made it pretty solid. I used it a few times with no problems, then built a permanent box.

Hello Bill This is what I did with my TTT;




I found a local welder and asked him to build this enclosure, now I can put a tongue box and other accessories in my trailers tongue without issue. The cost was about $120.00.

Congrats on the new Teardrop. It's a good one. As for the tongue box. You need to look at the length of the tongue. Can you turn and back up without hitting the tongue box with the car. Also is the jack going to be in the way. From the picture it looks short. You may look into extending the tongue. If you need to do that you could add a few side supports at that time. Enjoy your new tear and see, they are never finished!
