Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hey everybody. I know this could be a hard question to answer, but for those who have built their own teardrop can you venture a guess as to what an average "generic' teardrop would cost to build? Not looking for exact numbers here just a good old "ball park figure".

I think alot of people would be scared to REALLY add up the cost, myself included .

I think if I added up everything it would be between $500 and $750...... maybe. It depends on what kind of trailer you want and what you are going to use it for. Mine is on the low end because I chose to build a tiny travel trailer instead of a tear. I don't have a galley because I wasn't sure on really how to build one even with all the pictures in the albums on this site. I chose to K.I.S.S. on the first one and the next one would have a galley.

I'm also not finished yet, either. Hee hee!!

How much do you want to spend?
You could easily get up there in price real fast, especially with all the toys out there and with different types of building materials/techniques.
Going with just the basics, you could keep the cost way down.

It takes a lot longer. But think how many airline miles you could amass using plastic.

Go check out the Freebie Challenge thread. I built a really nice 8 ft tear for $300.00. My other two were under $1500.00. It all just depends on how much you can do yourself, access to materials and how fancy you want to make it. A painted tear is a lot cheaper than aluminum skin or an exotic wood finish. and a lot of little accessories add up quickly. When shopping for plywood see if they have some with a damaged corner. You are going to round off two corners anyways. Lots of ways to keep the cost down. Find that late model custom van in the junk yard for interior lights, switches fans, etc.
