Height of Hatch hinge

I have set my hinge at 60" from the floor up from the back ( or 60" is the length of the hatch from floor to hinge) the 3/8" cut out for the seal is cut and my question is: I have moved it back one full foot so that it is level with my cabinets and only 4' in length now does this make sense too anyone, why is the hatch is so high up the body lines on most Benroy Teardrops? is this going to cause me any problems? wouldn't this make a slightly lighter hatch ?

On a traditional 48'' tall Benroy, the hinge is higher up on the rear curve to put the hatch higher up when open to give head room. As long as you can walk under it without knocking your head you should be good. If in your not sure, get the cardboard and tape out and mock up a hatch and try it out.

OK thanks, I better check the head room thing out for sure although it sits 19" off the ground it might not have the clearance room for my coconut.

As a side note...think about others and maybe if you want to sell it in the future. A short one may be fine for you...but being taller, I manage to rip a hole in my head on lots of the shorter ones. At least ease your edges... they don't draw as much blood. Doug

I drew out the "Wishbone wagon" several times and wound up useing the brama hump and moved it forward for additional height here are a couple shots to show the gain in height

Personally, I'll take function over form on something like the hatch.
