Fiberglass tape on bottom edges of the walls?

I'm going to epoxy my walls next weekend (before they go up). I'm going to reinforce the wall/roof seam with 9oz 4'' glass tape, and was thinking about adding a strip of 2'' on the botttom edges of the walls for added protection. Any input?

I don't think it is needed but what the heck go for it. Just be sure it is stuck really good to all surfaces so water can not get under it and sit there (being it is at the bottom) and rot your wood!

DH -

It wouldn't hurt. You may have to radius to corner a bit to get the tape around the bend.

Take care,

The tape gets burried in the epoxy, no chance of water getting behind it.

How much radious do I need? Could I radious the outside bottom edge, glass the bottom edge of the wall, letting the tape hang off the back edge of the wall a bit and wrap around the front, then trim the excess glass with the router after the epoxy cures?
If I found a 6oz tape would I still need the radious?

Don't use tape at all, cut your tape from cloth. Cut the strips on a bias. It will follow any contour and there will be no salvaged edge to try to bury. When cut on a bias, there won't be any frayed edges to deal with.

Tape is difficult to hide with epoxy. Cloth will bury easily. I use thin glass for tape, one wider one with a narrower one on top of that, this make's it much easier to blend without showing.

You will still need a radius. Fiberglass doesn't like sharp edges.
