Need a recommendation for charger/inverter

Postby tvlawyer » Mon Aug 29, 2011 10:36 am

My TD is wired for 12 volt. I need to select a charger. I'd like a combination inverter for brief use of a 120v coffee maker, etc. What do you recommend?

Thank you all for your collective wisdom. It's been a great help all along the way.

I have had two Trace DR1512 Inverter/Chargers. The DR1512 is a 3 stage charger & a modified 1500 watt sign wave Inverter with automatic transfer switch. I found that 1500 watts was plenty to run coffe makers, nicrowaves, etc. I had no problems running a TV & Sattelite with the modified side wave Inverter. I would recommend this Inverter/Charger.

Trace is now owned by Xantrex.
They have two affordable Inverter/Chargers that would meet your needs.
Freedom 458 - 1500 watt version
Freedom HF - 1800 watt version
I feel that getting anything larger (higher wattage) &/or getting a true sine wave Inverter would be overkill.

I have an inexpensive 200 watt small Inverter. It has no charger capability.

I no longer have a need for high wattage Inverters.
