Using epoxy and wood flour to fill screw holes?

When I made my wood trim I countersunk the screws from the outside(for some reason I was thinking I couldn't screw it on from the inside). Had thought of using tapered plugs to fill the holes. That would mean another trip to town, got wondering if it would work and look ok if I made a fairing mixture(think thats what it is called)by mixing epoxy and the wood flour that came with the epoxy and filling the screw holes that way? I realize that it would not match the trim, but I was planning on some contrast anyway.
Thanks
Aaron

Should work just fine. You could also order a plug cutter from someone like Rockler and make your own plugs. I have a set of them and they are real handy

bought plug cutters at Menards, lets just say you get what you pay for.

Can you make some sawdust with leftover trim scraps, and use that. It should closely match the trim then?

Not sure what color you are looking for, but be aware even maple wood flour which is very light colored turns dark brown when mixed with epoxy. I use micro balloons(white) to adjust color.
Don't use saw dust, it's too coarse and won't look good. However, the dust collected by the bag attached to your sander is fine enough.
Plugs are your best choice for the best look if your holes are deep enough. If you use epoxy to glue them in dowels will also work. Don't use wood glue with dowels as they will shrink and loosen or pop out.
Color adjusted thickened epoxy will look OK, but plugs will look the best if you can wait to get a good plug cutter.

Might be a moot point depending on the answer to a question in another thread. Almost thinking of redoing the trim and screwing it on from the inside. The contrast wouldn't bother me, I am using poplar died with Cherry dye.
