is there a standard side that the a/c power inlet should be on? since i've always tent camped i've never really noticed if parks typically have the plug-ins on one particular side or if it's just totally random from place to place.

is yours on the driver's side or passenger side?

Usually on the "driver's" side because you back the trailer into the campsite.

Hi droid,

The general rule of thumb is that most hookups at the site should be
grouped together for ease of hooking the electric, water and sewer
connections on the RV/TT/MH/TD etc. to the park/campgrounds provided
setup. It is generally on the 'drivers' side by tradition and due to the fact
that in the US & CAN the entry door is almost always on the 'passenger'
/curb side. That side is therefore, by default, usually the 'living' side of
the site.

Having all the hookup connections on the side opposite to
the main entry side is a safety factor and avoids
the hassle of stumbling over all
the cords and hoses and such. Who wants to look at the sewer connection
[and the rest] when you're sitting around under the awning anyway?
Therefore it is also a good idea to group the elec/gas/sewer connections
on the RV/TT/MH/TD etc. 'together' too - within reason and commonsense
[and codes too I'm sure] and accessible on the drivers side, generally on
or under [or both] the lower back half of the unit's body side.

Using the shortest practical connections to the
provided utilities is the safest and easiest way to do it - but of course
you have to work with what has been provided by the park/campground
and they may not always be as 'concise' and as logical as they could be.

Just throwing this out there. A lot can be learned by visiting an RV dealer and acting like an interested customer. The real trick is to ignore the salesman and start opening drawrs, cabinets, compartments etc. Look how its put together, plumbed, where the hookups, doors, drains etc are... I even inspecter under neath. Funny, I was shown a Zinger first thing, the second he showed me was a dutchman on the other end of the lot.

I was thinking the same thing as tex, the outside on #1 I have a htach that I pass a cord through the floor and on #2 it is (although it is not actually hooked to anything inside yet) on the passenger side, never gave the location much thought, just happened to be the side I started building on. I usually take an extra long cord, cause some campsites are farther away from the power posts than others.

Mine is on the wrong side, of course

The battery and electrical panel are on the passenger side (right/starboard facing forward), so I put the power inlet on that side also.

Turns out almost every campsite has the hook up post on the other side of the trailer.

Glad I have a long cord
