Sobering.

That poor guy did a lot of things wrong and paid a heavy price. He'll be replaying that split second over in his mind for years to come. Made me decide to turn the tools off for the evening.

Thanks for posting that, Danny. We all need these reminders.

+1 on that...complacency and an "I know better" attitude can be a killer...when I was doing duty as a safety instructor, I would end every meeting by reminding all...It only takes a moment extra to do it correctly and safely. BUT, it can take a lifetime to get over not doing so!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a VERY lucky escape. I read this post with even morer interest than some, as I do quite a bit of woodturning, and we do also carve the outside of bowls etc with a power tool.

The lightest touch with that thing, and a gouge 1/4" deep appears in the wood.... it all happens so fast.

Thanks for sharing... sobering indeed.
