windows, slide or tilt and while driving?

I'm thinking of the type of windows I want on my two doors for my 5x8 future tear. I think the tilt up or out type look kinda neat, but then the flat, sliding open to vent kind might be better - especially if I want to open it a little to vent while driving down the road all day.

Is that what you all do? Like when you are driving for several hours in the hot sun, do you open the tear windows about half way or just leave the top vent open?

You're replies will help me decide and start getting things bought for it !!!

I would use whatever window you like. I vent or air out the trailer once at the destination. If you encounter rain or blowing dust on the road it could enter the cabin if open. You never know what you could encounter on the road.

I used the 'tilt up' type from RW Johnson. I like the 90degree radius sliders look alot better, but I wanted a window that if I am parked out were the rain is hitting the teardrop, I don't want the rain to be able to blow in the window as easy as it will with the sliders.

Windows, like every thing else, each type has their good and bad points. I choose the sliding type for my trailer for two reasons..1, I could install them verically so the opening part of the window would be lower giving better ventilation at the level where I am when sleeping in the trailer, and ...2, so I could fully open the door without the open window hitting the side of the trailer as a tilt out type would.

Keep them closed while travelling. We prefer the crank out type as we don't put our tear under shelter.

I keep my windows and vent closed during travel. One time the vent was not tight and it worked its way open and we ran into Lots-O-Rain. We had to wash and dry our bedding and various other items before we could sleep that night. Good thing we were staying at a KOA. I also find that we drive down more dirt road than paved roads for most of our outings.

During the build I toyed with the idea of a flow thru filtered ventilation system similar to a modern car but gave up on that.

Thanks for everybody's input.... that's a good point about opening the door and not having an open crank type window to hit the side of the tear.
But also about the rain, I had thought of that.

I definitely want the good breeze since I'm not putting in an a/c right at first.
