New bee here I just laid out my new TTT I may have already screwed up. I wanted a 4 by 8 but I am 6' tall so I decided extend it to 10' making it 4' by 10' . Should have changed the with to 5'. my question I don't need extra 5' will the trailer look symmetry correct. It not to late to make The change. any a all help will be appreciated

The best thing to do is to make a cardboard mockup of what you want to build. You can do paper drawings all day long and they won't give you any idea of scale and proportion in the real world so mockups are a really great way to visualize in full scale what you're planning on building.

In comparing side profiles, 4x8 versus 4x10. Yes there is a visible difference. It's not bad though. You could always get back to your desired profile by increasing the height. Check the Hall of Fame for examples...

As for the width, it really depends on how comfortable the two of you are sleeping in about 46" of space...

I did a mockup in tape on the floor at work one night. It was a slow night. A 4x8 footprint will give you 32 sqft of real estate to build where as a 5x10 will give you 50 sqft. As someone once said to me its your project make it how you want to. I went 5x10 and loving it. It will fit a queen size bed.

So do what ever you want it will look great.

My TD was originally 4 x 10 but proved to be too cramped, so I widened it to 5 x 10 and it is much better. We now use a queen mattress instead of a twin. See album.

Before we ordered our custom TD my wife and I went to a TD dealer that sold both 4' and 5' wide. She needed to lay in both to get a feel if she would get claustrophobic. HUGE difference between the two! Needless to say we opted for a 5 footer.

I built 5 foot wide and as it's two of us, I'm glad of the extra width. Although my wife is a reluctant camper also.

There is something tactical to be said for building 4 foot wide in your situation.

For two guys on a fishing trip 4 foot a little too cozy, so you can send your fishing buddy to his tent with no shame or dishonour. Where as a 5 foot trailer might seem like just enough room for two guys, and nobody want's to spend a night with one of their fishing buddies gassing the atmosphere from both ends.

I just saw a product in a holiday catalog called "Subtle Butt" which is a charcoal antimicrobial deoderizer pad that clings to your underwear for those flatulent moments. Now I have seen everything!

go 4'6" works better for the profile to the width thing. Doug

I agree with Doug. A 4'6" width looks very pleasing and is quite practical. Will accept a standard double mattress 54" wide.

If your trailer is wide enough, go 6' wide, the real estate is great and you can sleep sideways if you want to...

go 5 wide, use 3 for a bed and find something else to use the other two width

Thanks everybody for the info I think I am going to stay with my original plan with 4' I also will be pulling it with a jeep wrangler so I want to keep the weight down.
