A few of us have used marine vinyl to skin our roofs. We like the look, and it's easy to change out should we need to for whatever reason. Comes in a ton of colors, but we used a slate gray to match the aluminum. My brother also used vinyl for the roof of his cabin car. We're very happy with the results.

cool
what adhesive did you use to bond it?

We actually didn't use an adhesive. It floats on top of the ply, and the roof trim tacks it in place. That way it can breathe in hot temps. This also makes it easy to change out and replace if and when we need to.

I didn't use adhesives either. It would have made unsnapping it and removing it a little difficult.

My friend Kate has a convertible like Zach's. She's on her third year with it and it looks as nice as the day she installed it. A combo of snaps and velcro allow her to roll the roof back and enjoy a nice breeze.

I also used vinyl on the roof. It is not attached in the field, just along the edges and in the center where the vent is mounted. The edges are trimmed in aluminum. Under the vinyl is 1/4 foam to give some depth, it is glued down to the top, but the vinyl floats.

I sealed the roof with CPES before adding the padding and vinyl.
