Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I am looking at installing a mini hot water heater in my TD. There are some that are instant tankless types that are quite small and priced around $150. Then there is the small tank type that hold 2.5 gal that are in the same price range, but bigger.

Might be real nice to fire up the generator for some hot water when I am boondocking providing they do not require more wattage than my generator makes. Still it would be convenient when I have shore power so that I can clean up the galley.

Anyone have any experience with these units?

We had a 2 gallon electric heater in our pop-up for 4 years and now in our T@B for a year.
Wife loves having hot water and it's easier for doing dishes and cleaning up.
They draw 1500 watts so in the pop-up we couldn't run the wh, toaster oven and the coffee maker on the same circuit in the trailer so it was a little like Green Acres, but it worked well.
I looked at the instant ones but most use a lot more juice that I didn't have. The small units for like a dispenser work too but you don't have the 1.4 gallons (2.0x70%) to use like we have in have in a tank type heater.
Just our experience and we each camp differently.

Our water heater is a six gallon Suburban gas heater with an electric add on element. Nancy says the one thing she loves most about our trailer is having hot water on demand.

I pointed that out to my youngest sister way back in the 1980s. She now wants to kill me every time she sees it.

I have seen some very highly rated authors use it. Namely Stephen King.

Of course it is very hard to not say it.

Norm, I just about have the frame finished. I'll be adding a few braces today for the 10' cabin overhang. My frame id 60" and the cabin is 80". I took it too my certified welder for inspection last week, and he thought it need some support for the floor. I think that with uni-body fiberglass construction that may not be necessary.

I have been taking a lot of pictures, but they are mostly of the details. That's what has bothered me the most when studying pictures in albums. I sometimes strain my eyes to see the details. It is all in the details.

The forum has been great! I would have never started this project without the confidence that I will be able to find everything I need here.

I will start a build page soon.

Randy, I love the Snake River Valley! If fact, I am going that direction on my first trip after the "OUT-BACK" is finished. I named it Out-Back because I drive an Subaru Outback, and the Aussies got that name from their description of that which was behind them. I am not too imaginative, but it was fun to name it.

The internet has destroyed most of what we learned in school. I wonder if nuns still get upset with bad grammar. That first adjective was redundant, but I rarely proof what I write on the forums. You're right. Even if I had proofed it, I may have missed that.

My grandkids drive me nut! They never punctuate. I do have a hard time reading some of the posts here when the writer uses 200 word sentences.

You live in a mighty nice place yourself. even if it does sound a bit crowded these days. I seldom get over on the green side of Washington. My dad still owns a farm north of the Tri Cities at Connell. I might get up there this summer to look it over. I have not been there since the early 80s.

I named my trailer The Flying Hippo. After a rock formation out here in the desert. And the trailer is not to pretty either.

I am not in the metro area. I live on an island in the Puget Sound. Very quiet! Have to take a ferry to get there. After 21 years, I still find the ferry a charming addition to my life, although a bet frustrating during the tourist season. The wait is sometime over an hour. I don't go off-island too often.

Norm, I'd send pictures, but I have not been able to understand how to do it. I click "Img" but it doesn't ask me where the image is located. When I figure it out I will post some.

Hi Jerry/Ashleymeadow,

Good to hear you have some pics, and I'm all for recording and seeing
the details of how things are done.

I'm sure there are many ways to do it, but when I post pics I do it from
my album. So that means you need to get them into your album. To do
that, click on "Album"in the group listing at the top of the page under the
heading. Scroll down to the bottom of the listing and click on "Your
Personal Gallery". That will bring up "Personal Gallery of AshleyMeadow",
in your case. Under that is a small oblong icon labeled within "Upload Pic".
That brings up a screen for you to label and upload the pic. [I always
upload from my computer's "My Pictures" file as that is where I store my
pics and such.] Put in your title, then the description [if you want] and then
click on the little oblong "choose file" icon. That brings up a new small
window for the "My Pictures" file from my computer. I then choose the
pic I want from that, and highlight that, and then click the "open" button in
that "My Pictures" window. This copies the pic to the upload pic page.
Then hit the "submit button at the bottom and that puts it in your Album.

To post a pic from you album, open your album and choose the pic and
open it in/on its own window. Copy the URL for that at the top of the
page and paste it to/in your posting text. Then highlight that in the posting
you're working on and click on the "Img" button [second from right] above
the text box you're composing the posting in. That'll put an "Img" in
front and back of the pic URL you just pasted in. It should show up as a
pic when you submit the posting and it's been successfully posted. I
always 'preview' my posts and that'll show the pic or any link you've put
in. I always try the links to see if they work too. If the pic doesn't show
up they say to make sure there are no spaces between "Img" and the
URL at its beginning and end. I haven't had any problems other than it's
a bit tedious if you are posting a lot of pics at once. A hint for helping with
that [I was given this by forum member bobhenry] if you are posting
consecutive pics from your album is to copy and paste the URL for the
first pic, and paste that URL again as many times as you have pics to
post -remember they are consecutive- just go to the ending number in the
pic URL and change that to reflect what the next number would be in the
consecutive number series. e.g. say the first ending number is 10001,
just make the next URL end with 10002 and so on. Believe me it is not
as complicated as it sounds and saves a lot of time. Even if you don't
want to post consecutive numbered pics that way, as long as you know
the ending number for the pic in your album you can change the ending
number in the multiple pastes you did to reflect the pics you want. You
can also change the order the pics appear in by just changing that last
number etc..

Another thing I do [I use Google Chrome for a browser] is to bring up
another tab with the T&TTT forum in it and click on the "Help With Photos"
in the group listing under the header. That pretty much tells you all you
need to know about pics for the forum and it is easy to use and follow.
I just like to have that at the side to refer to if I need it.

The only other thing is to size your pics within the size requirements
of the forum correctly before you post them. I believe they are 800x600
and 640x480. [When I resize, I always keep the original pic in its original
size with its original file name and just save the resized pic as another file
name - I normally number pics I save with a #!, #2 etc. in the file name
towards the end, so for the resized pic I just use the same file name but
ad a "b" to the number e'g "#1b" and so on. That way you have the
original pic in all its glory as it is and also the correctly forum sized pic
saved next to it.]

Of course we all like the biggest possible pics! The pic
help mentions a couple pic re-sizers to use if needed, I use one called
"Pixresizer", that is easy to use.
