Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

After getting lil vardo 2 weighed fully loaded it came in at 1640lbs. I have a 2k axle so thats fine but I need to upgrade to bigger rims/tires. I haven started searching but any particular car models that might work?

FWIW I used 13in wheels on my teardrop that I bought new from a local RV dealer's parts dept. With tires I think they were around $100 apiece.

Thanks Bobhenry, Im gonna have to take a ride by HF this week and measure the distance between lugs to get the right size. Maybe I can find bright red rims to match!

Yeah Jon I was looking online too but wouldnt mind maybe a different shaped/style of rim if it isnt too costly.

Once you find a style wheel you like, you can paint wheels fairly easily even with the tire already mounted....



Just scuff the surface with a scotchbrite pad or sandpaper, and then make sure the wheels are cleaned with a degreaser. Place notecards around the the edge of the tire, and paint away. I sprayed on a primer, and then used a paintbrush and the "Aluminum" colored Rustoleum High Performance Enamel.

Not a very good pic, but I painted the wheels to match my car wheels a lot better than the bright white. (and my car wheels look darker in this pic because they haven't been cleaned in a while)

Drives me nuts when people call wheels, "rims". The rim is the outer part of a wheel. A kid was telling me, a while back, about his dad's MG and how it had wire rims. I asked him what the spokes were made of. He gave me the strangest look.

Talk to your local---goodoleboy---tire store. You would be amazed at what some of these guys can tell you.. I actually found some for mine that were 8". My TD was closer to 1700 pounds...

I bought 13" wheels and tires for my HF trailer at Southwest Wheel. They are definetely meatier tires than the stock ones. I have the heavy duty trailer and there is no rubing or other issues. I just bolted them on. They were about $70 each plus shipping.

Well, next weekend Im heading down to my friends house and I wanna measure the spare tire( I left my vardo at his place for storeing it) I think I want a different style wheel, would love one with the old style hub caps... if it isnt too expensive lol.

I think the logs are 4" apart... I never measured it so I know what to look for.

Me, too! The center part of the wheel is called a "coin". The "rim" is attached to the "coin" to make the "wheel" assembly.

One of my co-workers was telling me he was buying new "rims" for his new pickup. I asked him "Why are you just buying rims? Don't you need the entire assembly to roll?" He gives me a goofy look.

I added corrections to that initial wheel size/fitment list; as there are several errors in it, as pertains to Mopar wheels, specifically.
